Suzanne Davis returned as the National Focal Point for Jamaica’s Clearing-House Mechanism (JA CHM) and Biosafety Clearing House in 2009 after pursuing Ph.D. Studies in Canada. As the National Focal Point, Ms. Davis is responsible for the organization and implementation of the CHM Programme. Through a variety of electronic and print media, information on biodiversity and its conservation is collected, exchanged and distributed in order to support national conservation efforts and to contribute to public education and awareness.

Abroad, she lectured a 3rd year undergraduate course on Protected Areas. She has also successfully written and drafted project proposals that were awarded funding for the development and publication of a Teacher’s Guide to the Birds of Jamaica (a project of BirdLife Jamaica) and a field survey and inventory of the birds of the Mason River Protected Area (collaborative project between Institute of Jamaica and BirdLife Jamaica).
Suzanne was the recipient of a 2008 TransCanada Pipelines Award for her Ph.D. research. She also received partial funding for her fieldwork from the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica, and from a SSHRC grant awarded to her supervisor.
